FULIDHOO

Vaavu Atoll is the smallest administrative atoll in the Maldives in terms of population. It is located 40 miles (64 km) from the capital Malé, 60 minutes by speedboat, and 3 hours by dhoni. The atoll has two geographical atolls: Felidhu Atoll and the small egg-shaped Vattaru Reef, which has only one little islet, Vattaru, and is 9 kilometres (5.6 mi) in diameter. The easternmost geographical point of the Maldives is located at Fottheyo Muli, close to Foththeyo-bodufushi Island.

 

Vaavu Atoll is known for its beautiful beaches, clear waters, and abundant marine life. The atoll is a popular destination for scuba diving and snorkeling, and is home to many large pelagic creatures, including sharks, manta rays, and eagle rays.

Fulidhoo Island is the most northern of the inhabited islands of Vaavu Atoll. It is a small island, only 700 metres long by 200 metres wide. Fulidhoo is famous for its Maldivian cultural events, such as the Langiri dance, which is a traditional dance with drums and Thaara.

The island also has a large lagoon, which is used as a natural harbor. The island's north side is covered by lush trees and bushes and in the northwest overhanging trees form a natural tunnel.
